Kia Ora - Welcome

Tuatara Kids is a privately owned Childcare Centre located in Miramar, Wellington. We provide full day childcare and a limited number of six hour daily places.

We offer 20 Hours Early Childhood Education subsidy. 

The centre is open from 7.45 am – 5.45 pm.

Our part-day enrolment is for a six hour period between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Tuatara Kids - Tuakana cares for children aged up to 6 years old.

Our Philosophy

Tuatara Kids is an inviting whānau and community focused, independent centre. Our homely natural environment nurtures a sense of belonging for children, whānau, and teachers.

We live and work by the following values:

Partnerships – are warm and open with parents and whānau, and children, in order to be led by their interests and unique aspirations.

Respect – for each other, our environment, and all things living.

Exploration – nurturing children’s natural curiosity for learning, and viewing this as an important means of growth and development.

We, the teachers believe in:

Empowering children to acknowledge their uniqueness, and accept others.

Children being the leaders in their own learning, in which we empower and support.

We create a sense of community by actively engaging within our centre community, and inviting the community to contribute to the learning of our centre whānau; children, parents and whānau, and teachers.

We acknowledge Te Whāriki, the New Zealand early childhood curriculum as it guides and inspires all that we do as teachers.

Our pedagogy is inspired by Te Whāriki, Gerber, Pikler, Bronfenbrenner and Vygotsky.
